Torque ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Torque mobile application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our app.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and profile photo (if provided). You may also sign in using Google or Apple, in which case we receive your name and email from those providers.

Vehicle & Fuel Data: We store vehicle details (name, make, model, year, fuel type) and fuel log entries (date, odometer reading, fuel quantity, price) that you enter into the app.

Group Data: If you create or join a group, we store group membership information including your role (owner, admin, member, or viewer).

Photos: If you upload profile photos, vehicle photos, or group images, these are stored securely in Firebase Storage.

Device Information: We collect device tokens for push notifications and basic crash data (device model, OS version, stack traces) through Firebase Crashlytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the app's functionality
To authenticate your identity and manage your account
To send push notifications about group activity (new members, vehicles, fuel logs)
To monitor app stability and fix crashes via Crashlytics
To respond to your support requests

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Storage) which provides encryption at rest and in transit. We use Firestore Security Rules to enforce role-based access control — only group members can access group data, and permission levels (owner, admin, member, viewer) restrict what actions each user can perform.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. Your data is only shared with:

Google Firebase: Our backend infrastructure provider (authentication, database, storage, messaging, crash reporting)
Group members: Other members of your groups can see shared vehicle and fuel log data, based on their role permissions

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your user profile, group memberships, and associated data. Fuel logs and vehicles you created within groups may be retained for other group members' records.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access and update your personal information through the app
Delete your account and associated data from the Settings page
Opt out of push notifications through your device settings or the app's Settings page
Export your fuel log data in CSV format
Request a copy of your data by contacting us

7. Children's Privacy

Torque is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
